Job Description

This is a full-time, salary-exempt position located in Leesburg, Virginia. Ulu HI-Tech is seeking a SOC Analyst (Tier 2) to join a growing team in support of Security Operations Center.  The ideal candidate will have significant experience working in a network security environment, such as a Security Operations Center (SOC), and have an understanding of typical cybersecurity deliverables. This role requires analytical thinking, effective verbal and written communication skills, decision making skills, detail oriented, data interpretation, and adaptability. 

Essential Duties

• Initial response when a cyber incident is identified
• Remediation of incidents and escalation when necessary to Tier 3 support
• Initial assessment of the scope of the attack and affected systems
• Data collection for further analysis
• Dedicated monitoring and analysis of cyber security events by use of SOC tools
• Event of Interest (EOI) handling and escalation as appropriate
• Incident Response generation and reporting IAW established procedures
• Processing of incident communications to include initial reporting, follow-ups, requests for information and resolution activity

Desired Experience/Certifications

• Security+ Certification

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum five (5) years of experience
• BS degree or additional work experience substitution
• Basic knowledge of cybersecurity best practices
• Willing to work a DAY SHIFT B — 7 AM to 7 PM, alternating Wednesdays and Thursday to Saturday
• Regular attendance, maintain work schedule, attend meetings, meet deadlines, keyboard/type, handle confidential information, use math/calculations, stay organized, operate office equipment, may direct others

Education/Certifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to see and have hand/eye coordination
• May be exposed to dust/dirt, humidity, and noise
• May require lifting and moving of office supplies, furniture, equipment, and boxes weighing up to 25 lbs.
• May require the ability to work at multiple locations in Virginia and travel to those locations within the same day
