Job Description
Ulu HI-Tech is looking for a Linux Red Hat System Administrator. This role is expected to work within a team performing 1) Linux Systems Planning & Installation, 2) Linux Systems Admin: Ops & Maintenance, and 3) Linux Systems IT Security Administration within the Federal Government. Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Rocky Linux are primarily utilized. The ideal candidate is a Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) with experience installing, configuring, maintaining, and securing bare-metal and virtual RHEL and Rocky Linux Servers and Workstations. Other duties include managing backups, adding and removing users, handling daily tickets, and devising and implementing technology solutions.
The candidate needs to be good team player with excellent communication skills, an analytical bent of mind, and competent problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities
- Review and recommend new or revised cybersecurity policies and procedures, conducting gap analyses, and benchmarking against standards such as NIST SP 800-53 and ISO 27001.
- Manage virtualization platforms, such as KVM, VMWare, or Hyper-V.
- Perform independent scanning of systems for weakness and vulnerabilities.
- Delivering clear, actionable recommendations through detailed briefings, utilizing tools like OpenSCAP for STIG and vulnerability analysis.
- Install new Linux OS releases, configure, upgrade, patch, and secure servers.
- Install, patch installations, upgrade, and maintain Intel-based system hardware and software.
- Implement LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP) web server configuration, including installation of all standard plugins, configuration, and SS.
- Manage NFS, CIFS, and SMB permissions.
- Build multiple servers simultaneously.
- Monitor systems, validate the integrity and accessibility of all server resources, hardware, systems, and key processes.
- Have knowledge of cloud platforms, such as Azure, OpenStack or AWS.
- Review system and application logs.
- Manage anti-virus solutions, such as McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator or Palo Alto Traps.
- Script in Bash, PERL, Ruby, and Python.
- Have knowledge of Java, Tomcat, JBoss, .Net, and ReactJS software applications.
- Create, maintain and update documentation.
- Back up, retrieve, maintain, and migrate programs and data.
- Perform hardware upgrades, performance tuning, and resource optimization whenever required and have experience with OpenStack environment and applications.
- Provide user/team support.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 3 years’ experience as a Linux – Red Hat System Administrator (or equivalent).
- Bachelor’s Degree or above.
- Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) certification (or equivalent).
- Proficiency in applying IT security concepts, methodologies, principles, procedures and using industry-standard IT security tools.
- Proficiency in contingency planning and backup and recovery best practices.
- Possess a firm understanding of TCP/IP, Active Directory, NTP, DNS, and DHCP, among others.
- Proficiency in verbal and written communications and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in handling multiple tasks concurrently and in project and time management.
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, etc.
- Ability to efficiently adjust to changing priorities.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Passionate about delivering with quality.
- Pass a background security check, as required by Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12).
- Be a United States citizen, due to the “High” suitability and risk level of the work.
- Obtain a Passport prior to the start of the contract.
- Follow all necessary procedures to obtain a government badge and Common Access Card.
Physical Requirements
- May require lifting and moving of office supplies, furniture, equipment and boxes weighing up to 25 lbs.
- May require the ability to work at multiple locations and travel nationally, as needed.
